Risographs are a special type of printer from Japan that acts as a cross between silkscreen & regular printing. The machine creates “master copies” of each color, and pushes a soy-based ink through the master copy onto each piece of paper. Colors are printed separately & layered on top of one another, creating a unique off-set effect.
The unique soy-based ink used in risographs sits on top of the paper like oil. This ink can be slightly smudged if rubbed, which can be fixed by gently rubbing out the smudge with an eraser. It is recommended to not have this print exposed directly to sunlight, as it can fade the color.
